Our client is an employee-owned, Canadian engineering consulting company based in the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in land development consulting and engineering. They have an immediate need for a Project Manager/Engineer (dual role) to join their Water Resources team. A successful candidate has the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and to independently manage clients and a portfolio of their own projects as their career advances.

Reporting to the Manager of the Water Resources department, this role is responsible for overseeing stormwater, sanitary, and/or watermain modelling requirements on our urban redevelopment, residential, commercial, and large-scale mixed-use land development projects across the GTA, throughout Ontario, and across Canada. The position requires knowledge and experience which varies from small infill sites to large green field communities to complex mall redevelopment projects. Through the variety of project experiences, you will have the opportunity to learn and completed various models, designs, and reports for Sanitary, Stormwater, and Watermain systems which will allow you to use your creativity to overcome constraints and optimize designs. In addition to designing, you will need to be comfortable advocating on behalf of clients and understand that designing and reporting is only the first step.

Responsibilities

Project Manager:

  • Provide engineering & project management support to both the PA Lead and other Project managers within the team;

  • Independently manage projects, including corresponding with approval agencies and dealing directly with clients;

  • Scheduling and coordination of various activities to be completed by supporting staff;

  • Working along side other staff in the production of deliverables and providing quality assurance on deliverables;

  • Working with CA to ensure the best interests of the client are achieved during the construction implementation stage;

  • Coordination and/or occasional attendance at site meetings, responding to questions from the field, review of change orders, and review of progress payment certificates;

  • Management of post construction activities, including letter of credit reductions, construction certifications, municipal assumption activities, registration clearances etc.;

  • Responsible for completing various financial management activities, including invoicing, collections / AR, and backlog analysis.

Project Engineer:

  • Utilize computer modeling software to complete hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, erosion and sediment control studies, sanitary sewer capacity analyses, etc;

  • Preparation and/or coordination of Due Diligence Investigations, Functional Servicing Reports, Design Briefs, and Stormwater Management Reports.

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer (Ontario / PEO);

  • Graduation from a University program in Civil Engineering or similar civil design-related education;

  • 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering;

  • Effective technical writer and oral communicator.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work on a number of projects concurrently, leading staff teams;

  • A valid Ontario drivers license and vehicle.
