Civil Designer, Subdivision/Road, Land Development

Description

Our client is an employee-owned, Canadian engineering consulting company based in the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in land development consulting and engineering. They have an immediate need for a Civil Designer to be responsible for the preparation of municipal engineering designs using Civil 3D and other land development software. The position requires knowledge and experience which varies from small infill sites to large urban subdivisions and mixed-use developments. The position requires knowledge and experience in report preparation, proposal writing, hydraulic sewer modelling, watermain network analysis and various project coordination responsibilities with external parties (client, consultants, review agencies, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various preliminary engineering and detailed design activities, including earthwork analysis, road and parking lot design, site grading, sewer design and analysis, and watermain design 

  • Assists in the preparation of Quantity Calculations, Cost Estimates, and various contract administration duties as required 

  • Participates in the monitoring of project schedules and design costs. Communicates pertinent project information to Project team, municipalities and staff assigned to projects

  • Performs other project coordination and design related duties as assigned by Manager 

  • Keeps project design records and files

Qualifications

Working alongside the Senior Project Manager/Designer, you will prepare preliminary and detailed designs of both urban and greenfield development projects in the GTA. This includes the preparation of grading and servicing design drawings, as well as the coordination of related works with development team members.

Requirements

·         P.Eng or C.E.T Degree in Civil Engineering

·         Minimum three (3) years experience as a design engineer ideally with experience subdivision and/or road design.

·         Working knowledge of engineering principles and guidelines for all elements of municipal design, including servicing, grading and stormwater management.

·         Excellent understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

·         Ability to prepare Functional Servicing Reports, as well as Stormwater Management calculations an asset

·         Strong organizational skills, and ability to work in a team atmosphere.

·         Strong communication skills, and ability to guide new graduates is an asset.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and clients is an asset.
