Municipal Stormwater/Water Resources Engineer

Our client is currently seeking a Stormwater/Water Resources Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join their Municipal practice.

As a member of the Municipal Group you will be involved in a variety of stormwater projects including municipality-wide and site-specific stormwater management planning and design solutions. This role offers an opportunity to eventually build and develop a team of stormwater and water resource engineers within the Municipal practice.

Responsibilities

  • The primary focus of this position will be the study, design and associated hydraulic/hydrologic modelling of stormwater management systems, including but not limited to storm sewers, stormwater management facilities, low impact development (LID) techniques, watershed studies, floodplain analysis and erosion and sediment control plans. It will also include the assessment of site pre- and post-development drainage and recommendations for overland flow routes, as well as the detailed design of stormwater management facilities and any floodline analysis required to delineate the limit of development for sites adjacent to watercourses.

  • The role will be varied but a primary role will be to assist the municipal team with the detailed design of the stormwater systems using AutoCAD and 3-D modelling programs.

  • The role involves working closely with other discipline AutoCAD and 3-D modelling designers, on municipal facilities, road, bridge/culvert designs, as well as work completed directly for municipalities and/ or conservation authorities.

  • The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with an energetic and proven team.

  • A wide variety of other duties will be required, such as the preparation of proposals, technical reports (i.e. functional servicing reports, stormwater management reports), tender documentation, permit applications, production of preliminary and detailed design drawings and preparation, coordination of approvals and development of construction cost estimates.

  • Experience in working with conservation authorities, the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, and the Department of Fisheries would be an asset.

  • Other design related activities will also be required.

Qualifications

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science Degree with a focus on Civil Engineering and/or water resources;

  • At least 6 years of experience and a P.Eng. designation;

  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and vehicle.

The following experience and skills are considered assets:

  • Experience with peer review and expert witness services, environmental assessments, municipal infrastructure design, project management, contract administration

  • Experience with Civil 3D; InfoWorks, InfoWater, PCSWMM, SWMHYMO, Visual OTTHYMO and HEC-RAS modelling;
