Manager, Asset Management, Toronto

Our client is looking to add an Manager, Asset Management to their impressive and growing team. They are a commercial real estate investment manager dedicated to providing institutional and high net worth investors with direct access to commercial real estate assets. They currently have approximately $11B in assets under management. At present, they are comprised of over 50 real estate investment professionals. With properties located from coast to coast in Canada, their current portfolio is comprised of over 330 buildings and more than 37 million square feet with exposure to the office, industrial, retail and multi-family sectors.

 Qualifications:

  •  University Degree (emphasis in finance, real estate or urban studies). Post-graduate credentials are a strong asset. 

  • 5+ years of related experience, including 2-3 years’ experience part of a real estate asset management team, preferably in a fiduciary environment, with a solid and practical understanding of investment fundamentals and Canadian real estate market dynamics. 

  • Candidates with experience from real estate brokerage, investments, or lending and/or other real estate functions will also be considered.  

  • Excellent financial and analytical skills and solid understanding of accounting fundamentals. 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to think logically and problem solve effectively. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Excel; familiarity with ARGUS an asset. 

 

Responsiblities:

  •  Developing and implementing strategic plans for a growing portfolio of commercial properties. 

  • Overseeing the leasing function including the establishment of annual leasing guidelines, the direction of 3rd party leasing agents, and the active involvement in lease negotiations and recommendations. 

  • Directing 3rd party property and development managers in the creation and execution of annual operating and/or development budgets and capital investment programs and the day-to-day execution and oversight of same. 

  • Directing the completion of property valuations and working with other members of the team in the calculation of investment returns, as well as regular external client and internal property and Fund reporting requirements. 

  • Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness of third-party reporting (e.g., monthly reports, financial statements, capital plans & amortization schedules, tenant receivable and recovery schedules, etc.). 

  • Actively participating in the acquisition and disposition of properties including the underwriting and due diligence process as required 

  • Engaging and interacting effectively with a variety of internal and external third parties including clients, property managers, tenants, etc.
