Our client specializes in providing land development consulting and civil engineering design services to developers across Canada. Specialized areas of practice include site planning, civil engineering design, project management, and contract administration. Clients include owners and developers of retail, commercial, residential, and industrial projects. Due to growth and success, they have an immediate and strategic opening for a Design Engineer/Technician.
Responsibilities
You will join a tight-knit group of engineers with decades of experience in land development engineering and consulting to execute the following:
Prepare detail design drawings including servicing, stormwater management, grading, erosion and sediment control plans, and any other drawings required to secure municipal approvals or complete construction of the project
Prepare detailed engineering reports, including functional servicing reports and stormwater management reports for various stages of development including planning amendments, site plan approval and permits
Liaise directly with the client and municipalities to secure approvals
Perform various design drawings and calculations in Civil 3D
Assist with the preparation of tender and bid documents.
Coordinate design details with other engineering disciplines
All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering (or a related field)
5 to 10 years of related experience working as a Designer
Expertise using AutoCAD Civil3D. Experience with other engineering design software including water or stormwater management models (hydraulic or hydrologic) would be considered an asset
Excellent technical writing skills
An understanding of the municipal approvals process and confidence managing a project from due diligence through to construction including communication with all stakeholders (ie. approval agencies, clients, other consultants)
Strong self-management skills. Ability to work independently from home
The ability to multitask, problem solve, and work effectively under strict deadlines
A strong work ethic, motivation, judgment skills and interpersonal skills
A strong focus on attention to detail and customer satisfaction.
