Hints & tips

Unfortunately not all recruiters conduct themselves with NLC’s level of professionalism. It’s important for your reputation that your personal information is sent how, when and to whom you approve. To avoid a bad experience, here are a few questions you should ask when approached by a recruiter:

Questions you should ask:
  1. How long have you known the client you are representing?
  2. Do you have an exclusive mandate?
  3. Will you treat my information confidentially and send my resume only with my consent?
  4. Have you ever placed anyone at that company?
  5. Can you provide me with candidate you have placed that I may call as a reference?

If you are not comfortable with the answers you get to any of these questions, think twice before engaging with that consultant. At NLC we answer these questions up front. We are proud of our client relationships and are committed to treating candidates with respect. Please see testimonials for comments to that effect.

Candidate Testimonials

"Over the past twenty-five years I have worked with many recruiting
firms both on the client and candidate side. My recent experience with
NLC Recruiting and Consulting Inc. and more specifically with Nancy Chapman,
was by far the most positive experience I have ever encountered. Professionalism,
enthusiasm and attention to detail are but a few of the qualities that are instantly
evident when dealing with NLC. I look forward to working with Nancy in the years
ahead as her energy and professionalism places her at the forefront of the
recruiting industry. Many thanks Nancy for making my search process a
wonderful experience and helping me secure a challenging and exciting new role."
Maureen Flanigan; Senior Director, Business Development: SNC Lavalin O&M
"Working with NLC Recruiting was a very positive experience. I was approached
by Nancy Chapman at a time when I was not looking to switch from my position
with my current employer; however, I am glad I considered the opportunity Nancy
presented since the end result was an offer which I believe to be great for my career
path. Nancy’s professionalism and passion for finding great talent for her clients is
what make this complex process so easy and what ultimately led to my final decision.
I would strongly recommend NLC Recruiting to any candidates or potential employers."
